Who's who on this year's committee
The Parents Like Us Committee

Parents Like Us is organised by a Committee which this year is made up of parents who all have children aged 6 or under. The committee is re-formed each year and members all give their time voluntarily. Although parents are given priority, anyone is welcome to apply to join and no previous event-organising experience is necessary. If you would like to be part of Parents Like Us in the future and would like to know more about what's involved, please email us at the address on the About/Contact page.

Listed here is everyone on the 2008 committee. You’ll see us all at some point during the festival as we go round the arena checking everything is as it should be – if you think we can help you in any way, please ask.

Kate Marks

Kate Marks – Project Manager/Trustee

Kate is full-time mum to Ellie, 6 and Harvey, 4.

Contact Kate for any problems or queries you have about the festival in general. Feedback is always welcome - we do listen and try to respond to individual comments.

Clare Downer – PLU Administrator

Clare has two children aged 6 and 3 and teaches piano, alto saxophone and baby Sing & Sign.

Clare works part time from our office at Leith Primary throughout the 10 months that it takes to create the festival and is a valuable source of help and support to the committee and Board.

Antonia

Antonia Delaney – Arena Activities

Antonia has 3 children aged 7, 2 and 7 months and is currently on maternity leave.  Antonia has the task of coordinating all the arena activities (most of which are free!), including the running timetable of events happening in Free Play area 4.
Cath

Catherine Fergus-Allen – Daily Diaries

Catherine is mum to Cameron, 5, and Aidan, 2 and works part time.  Catherine gathers information from all the other committee members and uses it to compile the daily diaries which tell you what’s happening where throughout the festival.
Janet

Janet Innes – Box Office

Janet is currently full time mum to Fraser, 6, having recently given up work after 22 years with the same NHS organisation to see what else life has in store!   Janet will very probably be the person taking your call when you book tickets in the run up to the festival.   Box Office is NOT an easy task – it can be extremely busy at times, so please be gentle on her!
Bronwyn

Bronwyn MacAskill - Therapies

Bronwyn is Mum to Emily, 4 and Andrew, 2, and also teaches YogaBugs to 3-7 year olds.   Bronwyn is responsible for finding all those wonderfully relaxing, reduced-rate therapies we offer to grown ups throughout the weekend. As well as helping in other areas, Bronwyn is also doing a YogaBugs slot in Hands On.
Alan

Alan McNeill - Music

Alan loves being a dad to Will, 4 and Howie, 2.  Alan’s lot is to come up with the schedule of live music playing at various locations and times throughout the festival; see the daily diaries for who, when and where. All free.
Sam

Sam Pringle – Sales Pitch

Sam has a baby boy and works part time coaching mums returning to work.  We’re unashamedly exploiting Sam’s marketing expertise to get help with the Leaflet Posting area in the Sales Pitch marquee, which is where you’ll find information on support groups, products and resources.
Jenni

Jenni Salton – Demos

Jenni is mum to 10 month old Evie, and will be returning to work part-time at Queen Margaret University in March.   Jenni is sourcing and compiling our timetable of fun, informative and interactive demos which will be happening in Sales Pitch throughout each day.
